The Rus-A-Pei is an active and extremely intense canine, often crossing the boundaries of hyperactive. The breed can have high prey drive like most terriers. The Chinese Shar-Pei traits of being mute often reduce the activity level of this breed and make the intensity controlled. Ideal Environment

Russell Terrier, the parent of the Rus-A-Pei, is extremely active, so this breed is also an active canine. Some activities are lowered due to the inclusion of Chinese Shar-Pei. The breed is less likely hyperactive than the Russell Terrier. It is important to take the dog for long walks. One hour of activity is sufficient for this dog. These are small dogs and can comfortably adjust in an apartment or similar place, but due to active nature, they prefer a spacious home where they can play in the yard.
